7 or 5 seater suv

So following a similar post I made a few weeks ago….
my husband has taken on my 7 seater (discovery)and is the main family car.
I am replacing the other car as the repair cost outweighs its value.
I have three teens (oldest is 14) and a toddler. I think I have narrowed to either a Tiguan all space or a MG hs? We also looked at a 5 seater xtrail. This car will be primarily used for the school run but I am conscience of not having a 7 seater option for the school holidays when they have a friend or two over. We like the option of fold away seats for a big boot.
Please can you help me decide on which car to choose?
thank you

We have an MG SUV as a a temporary car and it is horrible. Have you test driven it? It’s cheap quality, not a great drive, some stupid design faults, and I really would not recommend at all.

Do you have any recommendations for suv you have enjoyed?

We have a tiguan allspace. It’s fine but I’m not blown away tbh, my kids are younger than yours and it doesn’t feel spacious. Our previous car was a Citroen Berlingo (there’s a seven seater model) and ugly/functional as it was it was more spacious. Keep in mind that Tiguan is being discontinued so if you buy a new one now it will be a (near identical afaik) Tayron.

Could you not swap with DH when you need the seven seater?

MG - god no!

We had an MG as a hire car last summer and it felt cheap and plasticky. DSM has one and it has been unreliable.
I would avoid Nissan. They are unreliable and the company is in danger of disappearing. A colleague had an X-Trail and had no end of problems with it.

He absolutely loves it and I don’t wish to take it off him as he has waited so patiently while I get a car. Also the insurance for me is high though i have considered being a 2 x disco family but worried about 2 lots of maintenance and repairs. Though I’d argue on a Tiguan or equivalent I would still have high cost tyres etc x

We have a Volvo XC40 and about to change to an XC90 7 seater. Volvos are exceptional in my experience and I would highly recommend.

Hi. Thank you everyone. We have ended up going with a hybrid Qashqai. Hopefully we will be fine with it. Thanks again xx
