New Mini Countryman EV or volvo EC40

Very different but have whittled down to these two - any opinions?

going to test drive both I think - just wish the Volvo interior was a bit less dated…

Well, although I realise it depends very much on what you’re using it for, but when I was getting an EV and looked at the Mini (previous car had been a Countryman, which I loved) I thought it was an absolute feat of engineering to have such a minuscule boot space in such a big car. In fact the interior in general is like a reverse Tardis. I actually discounted it before even test driving for that reason. Can’t comment on the Volvo (went for iX3 in the end).

That’s interesting I actually thought the back seats quite generous when I sat in it yesterday 😂 not so bothered by boot size as it’s a second car - good ground clearance which I like as we are rural🤔

looked at ix2 and ix1 which the mini shares platform with but thought they were a bit meh in comparison…had a hybrid x5 ages ago and loved it!

have you looked at the Volvo EX30? It’s a much newer model than the EX40 and probably a similar size to the Mini. Has been very well reviewed.

Hated it! Felt cheap and plastic-y. No head up display and lack of dashboard. Too much via the screen.

was the EC40 not the EX40 I like - nicer shape!

Assuming you've not got a dog to ride in the boot (in which case go for the bigger boot) then test drive both and go with the one that makes you smile when you see it and when you drive it.
