Does anyone understand new car tax exemptions for disability?

DH informs me of the following.

  1. You need a special certificate to prove you are exempt from car tax if you are disabled, on highest mobility award etc, and have previously had exemption from car tax on this basis.
  2. You need this by April 1st.
  3. All the different govt websites say different things about this 'certificate', most not mentioning it at all.

My own research leads me to believe that 1 is probably correct, and 3 is certainly correct. Do any MN out there have experience of successfully navigating this particular minefield? (DH is autistic in addition to his physical disability, so stress levels are rising!)

TIA for any help.

Not sure.. but we have a disability exempt from tax and we just got a form from post office, filled it in, proof of disability payment and they scanned it all off and that was it.

@ThirdStorm the government site links to a form which is dated 2023, so not relevant to recent legislation. @Arthurnewyorkcity was this recently? I am trying to find out about the change since the recent budget.
