Desperately needing advice. I applied for carers allowance with a start date of 1st June 24, after 15 weeks I received a payment but they said I was over the limit for June earnings, I have wrote to them asking why I’m over the limit as I don’t believe I was, as of 14th April 25 I have still not received a reply, this however isn't my main issue, I have not actually received a further payment since the 6th October which is heading up to 28 weeks, I have phoned them over and over again asking for updates but it’s like Groundhog Day, all I get told is that it’s with a decision maker and there is no time limit on replies. In December, I did get a snippet of information where the lady told me I was classed as an irregular earner so would have to wait three months, but that I would start receiving payments then, it’s now heading for 7 months !! I have sent wage slips as soon as I got them each month, I reduced my hours to well below the limit months ago so that there would be no issues with being over the threshold, even though I don’t think I ever was, I phoned citizens advice who say because they don’t have a time limit on claims, I can’t do anything about it, they told me to visit a food bank if I was struggling !!! I’ve wrote to them numerous times, they have received all my correspondence and I have not had anything back explaining why there is a delay, I’m told that there is no complaints process, I just have to write to them to the address I’ve already written and sent everything too, I’ve phoned today and asked for a manager to call me, I don’t know how long they will take to call me back and whether it will make a difference as the claim has been escalated numerous times to no avail ! Please, please, please can anyone offer me any advice, I’m at my wits end

The same happened to me, I'm not even working, they just made an error and admitted (from the start) it was an error. It took five months to sort. I got the backdated money but I was so desperate for the money. What eventually helped was to explain how desperately poor I was and that it was imperative I speak to a manager. After I eventually managed to speak to one it was sorted within days. As you're earning it's probably more complicated than mine was. Are you in touch with your local carers centre? They might be able to help with sorting out the exact possible issue with your earnings and help you to lay out the figures?
