Hello wonderful people,
My partner and I are excited parents to be. However, one thing we are a bit scared of is how we as parents will be giving up our social lives and ability to be spontaneous, go on adventures etc. for a few years. Whilst we have every intention of being very involved and present parents, we are aware of the mental health effects of being locked in to the house. The cost of childcare is also a concern.
I'm considering building a childcare co-op app where parents swap childcare using earned credits—care for another family's child to earn credits, then spend them when you need childcare yourself. The goal is to save money, give parents more freedom (date nights, errands, or personal time), and provide kids opportunities to socialize in safe, trusted environments. Would you be interested?
I'd love your feedback, tips, or personal experiences around childcare-sharing, to inform whether this is worth building and how to suit parents needs. If you're interested, I'd greatly appreciate chatting through your thoughts in a short interview, or you just responding to this post. Early participants will get first access, helping shape a community designed to support parents and give them more free time and flexibility.
Any insights are hugely appreciated. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
