Hi
looking for some help. Husband was made redundant and just offered a new job. However he’s been told hours are 8-6 5 days a week and salary is £25000. We haven’t got all the details as awaiting contract but assuming an hours unpaid lunch a day that’s still 45 hours. This seems under minimum wage to use. The gov website says it’s within living wage. Does anyone have any idea how they got that answer.

Husband needs to ask about pension,AL ,sick leave ,any other carers to cover if not available.

For a 45 hour week, that works out at only £10.68 an hour.

Minimum wage is now £11.44 an hour.

At 11.44/hour, nobody over 21 working 45 hours should be earning less than £26,769 - and it's going up again in April to £12.21/ hour.

(11.44 x 45 x 52)

Ps you've posted this under "carers" - I assume you were looking for "carerers"? You might get more response if you ask MNHQ to move it to a more appropriate board.

On minimum wage that works out as 8.4 hours a day.

As you are supposed to have breaks for that long shift of 8-6 I suspect that’s what’s going on.
It’s an hour lunch plus breaks
