Where to find a PA

I’m currently caring for my 26 year old granddaughter who suffered a devastating illness in 2022.
She has been allocated funding for 11 hours a week PA support and it’s been a real challenge trying to find someone and I am hoping you mums might have some suggestions/advice.
My granddaughter had just become a mum herself and had a gorgeous little girl the year before she got ill. While I know she appreciates me, I’m a golden oldie and have little in common with a 26 year old.
There is no personal care involved in supporting my granddaughter, it’s all about social interaction and rehab activities, which I thought would be an ideal role for someone looking for some extra money for a few hours work while their children were in school.
Any suggestions or advice about how to find or attract a PA will be much appreciated.

Try Penderels Trust, I don't have any direct experience with them but I know they do advertise PA jobs on behalf of people who need a few hours assistance a week. I've just had a quick look and they do seem to cover most regions . There are a number of adverts in there too so you can see what sort of help people are asking for and also pay rates etc. Good luck

Ask your nearest special school if you can advertise in their staffroom? We always have adverts up for jobs with the children who have respite care. The TAs often take on the extra hours as they have experience and police checks etc.

Local area facebook can be a good place to place an advert. Word of mouth is usually best but this normally only comes once you start to use people who know others who do the same job.

If you are doing it yourself, obviously you will need to check DBS, references and so on.
