Does anyone claim UC as a couple but one of you gets carers element so your partner only has to hit the single AET rather than the couples one? I recently applied for the carer's element and have been told I now have no work commitment but my partner still has to hit the couples AET. We assumed he would be moved to the single one. Can anyone help me with this please

I think he'd still need to hit the couple AET

Similarly if 1 person in a couples claim is self employed the other person still needs to hit the couple's AET with their PAYE earnings.

The couples AET is still only the equivalent to a part time wage though.
