Does anyone know how long it takes for carers allowance?

Mine took 2-3 weeks about 12 months ago.

I applied 8 weeks ago. Still waiting. Apparently there's a 9 week wait.

I’m on week 13 and I was told it was escalated 3 weeks ago 😭

Ruelzdontapply · 08/09/2024 22:19

12 weeks about 2 years ago

I think it probably depends on the circumstances. Mine took a week just over a year ago.

I've been waiting nearly 11 weeks now. It's a joke! :(

I think I’m on 18 weeks. Going to phone tomorrow. It’s so frustrating when you see people getting decisions in two and a half weeks 😭

That’s shocking!! And when you phone they just say it’s with the back office and they don’t have a timescale! ! I’m actually going to write to my local mp I think. Good luck. I hope you hear soon x

Mine only took about 3 weeks in 2020 OP, sorry. My DH was getting Attendance Allowance though so don't know if that made a difference.

(Silent rant that apart from it being a pittance they can't even administer it efficiently)

Hi. That’s really quick though maybe things have changed in 4 years! My mum also gets attendance allowance. I don’t claim any other benefits and my weekly income is below the £151 that your allowed. I really don’t see what the hold up is. As it’s all straight forward. They should really action them in the order that they receive them. So annoying and so wrong.
