Carers allowance and 30 hours childcare

I am awaiting my carers allowance. Lady on phone said 9 week wait, however I need to reconfirm my childcare with GOV.

I earn about £130 a week. The lady on the phone said you don't get 30 hours/any free childcare with carers allowance unless you are on universal credit.

My partner works full time and we don't claim any other benefits.

I thought I would get 30 hours funding for my 4 year old with the carers benefit.

Thanks in advance.

You get 15 hours automatically as that is universal. Carers allowance is for caring for someone and isn't means tested at a family level (just your income). If you earn £130 a week then the 15 hours will cover that

I know, everyone gets the 15 :) but I thought with carers you got the extra 30 hours

Hi, just resurrecting this thread to see what the outcome was?

im awaiting a decision on carers allowance and was also under the impression it would allow the 30 hours childcare?
