My dad is 94 (and a half, he keeps reminding me, bless him). His mobility has deteriorated considerably, and so, whilst he can control his bladder reasonably well, he can't always get to the loo quickly enough, especially at night. He uses a urinal to wee into, which was fine, but he now occasionally spills urine out of it onto the carpet (arthritic hands). My brother (his carer) has been using a Rug Doctor spray to keep on top of it, and we're getting the Dr involved to help going forward, but the carpet stain and the increasing pong really need to be sorted out!
Looking for recommendations for a cheap but good, lightweight carpet shampooer or wet/dry cleaner thingy? I'd rather buy one than rent but have just discovered how many there are on the market!
This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for product recommendations, we’ve recently updated our guide to the best carpet cleaners with lots of options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and editors. We hope you find it useful.
