I have just started caring for my mother and have been getting gov money for doing it weekely but since then my universal credit has took a hammering 3 months later I have found out that you get a carers allowment from universal credit so I have a applied and it has been verifed now I wanted to get it back dated and they said you cant unless you have a valid reason can anyone help me with a valid reason why not knowing I was elegible to have it is not one I have really struggling with looking after my mum and the backpayment would help so much for us both please help !! thank Angie
