Hi so I have been awarded my carers allowance I rang them this morning. The person on the phone said I'm expecting payment 16th december but they need to get deductions for income support so that could push it back to the 23rd december
Can anyone please help in what I will be getting? Like what deductions from income support I'll lose and why? Thankyou x

Hi , when I got c/a for my son back in 2001 it was 60.00 every monday and they use to take it out of my income support, why I'm not sure but it did .
I just put in for it again as my prem baby has been rewarded high dla , phoned today to see how it's getting on and the lady said every looks ok they dont need any more info has they have got every think they need but it will take 8 weeks now to get a payment....... did your take his long ??? They got it on Nov 5 , I'm wounded if this is normal. As when I applied in 2001 I'm sure it never tuck this long .
I no it's a rate of 66.15 a week now and they back pay you too not sure if they will back pay to the date dla was given or if it's just 3 months from the date they got the claim. X

Income support will take 66.15 out of your money each week . I'm not sure why you may need to ask dwp to explain it , but they do take that xx

Your carers allowance is deducted from your income support as it’s considered an income.

You do however get a carer premium added to your Income Support claim of £36.85 a week.

So 73.10 + 36.85 = 109.95

Carers allowance is 66.15 a week

109.95 - 66.25 = £43.70

So you’ll get £66.15 a week carers allowance but your income support will be reduced to £43.70 a week.
