After some good mumsnet threads, I have been desperate for this new category. I can't be the only one who at times would rather have minced up their dependants and put them in a sandwich, than be a sandwich generation mother.

The emotional stress and the sheer practical and admin nightmare of running everyone's lives....

Not got small children, but this evening I was simultaneously on the phone to newly widowed MIL advising on selling her house & on MSN to DS advising on finding a house for 2nd year at uni!

I had no idea what this topic meant until I just read a post by misdee and the penny dropped - maybe an explanation at the top would help non-trendy people like me who have totally missed the new jargon.

Mersey, have so so been there. Thought I was disappearing up my own arse at times, it was dreadful. The stress of it all made me frequently want to run away.

My mum was very ill and passed away in May, but all I can offer you is sympathy, as it felt like having another child. Frequently had to drag poor ds round doctors and hospitals with her, and he tolerated it well, but did get fed up.
