DS1's MC Tobi straps have just jammed we can't move them at all, we had the same problem before and we sent 1st one back after about 5 months and it was replaced. However this one has lasted somewhat longer say 14 months and I am now worried that this may be a known problem?!?!? Has anyone on here had similar problems? My main worry is that 1. we are going to have to buy a new one for him now as we are outside the 12 months, and 2. before this happened we had just bought one for DS2 also so it may happen with his too! Thankfully this morning we managed to resolve the issue by putting DS2 in to his rear facing carseat which he JUST fits in so we could get to work and child care safely but what if this isn't an option! What would I do then? Any help would be appreciated!

Take it back! Ours stopped reclining, and we took it back to Mothercare - we'd had it for over 12 months - they sent it off and the straps were replaced, and worked perfectly for a couple of years after that - in fact, DC2 had just outgrown it. It was embarrassingly dirty!

Hi there,
Just wanted to let you all know i have also had vaious problems with this car seat and have recently set up a Facebook action group which if we get enough people to join can loby Maxi cosi to recall this car seat and fix the known safety problems with the seat.

Please feel free to add your own input at www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=112551105464591

Thank you.

When we had this carseat this happened a lot when my dd was a particular size. If it is the same problem I turned the seat over and found that there is a bar at the back and the straps were getting caught on it I eased it pass check the straps were not twisted and seamed ok after that. If not take it back I think it may have a 2 year warranty on it.

I have been doing some work for MaxiCosi and understand that the buckle jamming was an issue on a small number of the Tobi seats. MaxiCosi have made modifications so this no longer occurs. MaxiCosi put in place the following for anyone that came across this; corrected and repaired all affected car seats free of charge, offered a free loan car seat (except at Mothercare) and ensured the seats were collected and returned within 5 working days. Please also note that when the lengthening feature does not function the seat still offers the highest level of safety when the child is buckled up correctly.
I hope that this helps and puts your mind at ease, and that your cases are resolved ASAP. I am sure that this is covered with the two year warrenty so you should be able to get this sorted very quickly. Let me know how you get on.
All the best,
Sarah
