Ford C Max - easy fix & Cabriofix

OK so we have got a Focus C Max 2008 and we're a bit concerned about the car seat situation.

There is no isofix in the car so we fitted the base with the Seatbelt and all was good.

We drove to Mothercare to ask them to check if we'd done it properly.

They lady there said the base was in properly but we couldn't use it because the buckle of the seatbelt was touching the base and that in a crash that could be dangerous.

I've since been on the Maxicosi website and looked up compatibilty there and it says that the car seat & easyfix itself can't be used in my car at all because

"Your car is fitted with one or more storage compartments under the rear seat floor. This product cannot be installed on these seats because the support leg cannot be placed in a safe manner."

I am totally confused! Is it safe to use the carseat along without the base?

Does anyone here have the cmax and use the easyfix base with the cabriofix?

HELP!!!!

buckle crunch and support legs with underfloor storage are both bad! i don't know why they put the storage boxes in i never used mine in my scenic and they stopped me from getting the car seat i wanted.

if the baby seat is secured correctly using the seat belt it's just as safe as long as it fits in your car correctly.

i would maybe check with a road safety officer instead of mothercare or halfords as they are not always the best at giving advice!

Brill thanks for your help. Have decided to take the base back and use the seat belt - like you say so long as it's on correctly there should be no probs

Thanks again
