Can someone tell me about the KISS please?

Hi,

I'm looking at car seats for an October arrival and I know that I want to keep with rear-facing as long as possible, so this one seems a good idea. I had a look on the other thread about them but half the posts seem to have been deleted .

I've pieced together where to get one from, so maybe if we avoid mentioning the shop in Milton Keynes people won't ask to have the messages deleted this time!

Also, is this the best way to do rf 0-4, it seems very expensive, but I haven't costed up buying a Group 0 and then a Group 1.

Oh, and we have a Ford Fiesta, I don't know if this makes the whole proposition ridiculous or not.

hi yes i have a KISS. i have it for ds who is 2 but hope to be using it later in the year for a new baby. i was given a cabrio for ds when he was a baby(knew the history and it was quite new) but it would now have 'expired' according to maxi cosi so will use this instead.

it lifts out using handles so you can carry it about like a baby seat and then it just moves from reclined to upright for older babies. i haven't used it for a baby as it wasn't available until ds was nearly 2 but it has padding and seems like it would be fine/comfortable.

the smallest car i have had it in is a polo although my sis used to have a fiesta and my twe fitted and this seems to take up less space.

i would say if you are going for erf then this may work out cheaper/the same as the ones i have used so far would have been about £315 and that is non isofix v. KISS at £300.

Great, thanks very much for all that, it does sound really good. The KISS that's smaller thatn a twe? That's really helpful, it's hard to get a perspective from photos, they all look enormous!

Unfortunately, we took our car to Halfords today who said it doesn't have isofix, I foolishly assumed it did as it's not that old, so may have to rethink our options a little. May have to look at a cabrio and a twe instead.

well the kiss can be installed with a seabelt too, i have to do this in my dads car. it fits well and once you know how it's easy and the instructions are easy to follow.

Hi there - I have a query about the Kiss. I am looking for a rear facing car seat for my 12 month old twins. As I have underfloor storage, it can't have a support leg. I also need it to move from car to car (not that often) reasonably easily. Would the Kiss fit the bill do you think? Can anyone tell me how heavy it is to move about (I have a bad back!). Any other suggestions gratefully received.

the kiss has a support leg. i had underfloor storage in my last car so had to get ds a two way elite. it's much lighter to lift and is easy to move between cars. we have just left a set of tether straps in the cars we move it to on a regular basis so it takes even less time.

KISS, or DuoLogic as its normally called, is a nice and compact Isofix set. It fits well in small to large cars which is unusual for Isofix RF seats. It's a good fit in smaller cars such as Fiesta, Polo, etc. It's versatile since it can be installed both with Isofix and seat belt.

It's IMHO one of the few rear facing seats suitable from birth since the seat consist of a separate Isofix base and an infant seat which slides into the base. The infant seat can also be used separately, without the base, and fastened only with seat belt, to 10 kg.

DuoLogic needs less space than TWE.

This seats is routinely installed in cars with underfloor storage which is extremely safe. Most manufacturers don't recommend this but experts have different opinions on this.

DuoLogic is quite heavy and weighs around 14 kg. Using TWE to move from car to car would work but it's not as easy to install as for example Britax Hi-Way since HW has seat belt lockoffs and a support leg.

DuoLogic is a great seat but rear facing time is far shorter than TWE since shoulders of children hit the head support. RF height with TWE is normally around 125 cm and about 105 cm in DuoLogic.

I am interested in hearing you say that you can put the KISS in a car with underfloor storage - is that because the support leg extends quite far? Could anyone who has this KISS seat kindly tell me how much room it takes up as I don't want the driver and passenger seats to be forced too far forward....
