Leaning forwards when sleeping in our maxi cosi

Hi all -

I have a 6 month old and we have used a maxi cosi car seat since she was born and it has been great.

Over the last week or so I have noticed that when she falls asleep in the car her head falls really far forwards - it looks really uncomfortable and in an adult would definitely lead to a sore neck! The straps are tight enough and we havent changed anything else.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

It might be the seats in your car. DS used to do this when asleep in the seat in the Maxi Cosi seat in my car but not when he was in DH's car. This was because DH's seats were really flat whereas mine dipped down much further at the back, tipping the whole seat forward IYSWIM.

You could try putting something under the seat, like a folded towel placed where the seat meets the back to lift the front of the seat up a little. This didn't work in my car as we were using the IsoFix so we removed the head hugger as soon as DS cound support his head. This allowed him to sit further back in the seat which tipped him back a bit and sorted the problem.

but maxi cosi do several that it could be!!

Have you removed the head support cushion?

We are using the 1st maxi cosi seat (0+). We are also using isofix so dont seem to be able to fit a towel underneath it and removed the head hugger bit a while ago...

I called maxi cosi yesterday and they recommended that I use the nap n go (safety 1st brand) pillow that fits around DS's neck at the front so she can rest her chin on it. I have ordered from Amazon and will let you know on here how it works!

Yes but they only have two seats suitable from birth and they are both very similar (the pebble/cabriofix)

I would have thought that sleep cushion would be a bit big for a 6 month old. I don't know, if it's on an isofix base I don't think the angle can be changed, sorry. Perhaps just try to keep car journeys as short as possible and for longer journeys have someone in the back with her to reposition her head if she falls asleep.

Maybe get one of these?

Loukate, how did you get on with the cushion? is it worth getting one?

have you taken out the cushion that makes it flatter for teeny ones?

Is she getting too big for the seat? We moved up to a larger one as DS outgrew his at 5 months.

Not sure about LouKate, but I have taken out the foam insert but left the headhugger in. Never had this problem when he was a wobbly headed newborn, just now at nearly 5 months.

Igglybuff - Hope he's not growing out of it he's not 5 months yet. Its 0+ so I was thinking 9-12 months.
