Maxi cosi 0+ seat - when do you remove the middle bit?

DS is 15 weeks old but quite long for his age. I've already moved the straps up higher but he still looks really squashed in to the seat.

When can the middle bit (with the extra head cushion be taken out)?

Do you mean the maxi cosi cabriofix seat? If so, I think I took the foam wedge out (leaving the head hugger behind) at about 3 months and then took the head hugger out about 4.5 months.

If you take out the wedge it gives quite a lot of growing room before you need to stop using the head hugger. I wanted to keep the head hugger for as long as possible as extra support in case we were in a side impact collision.

Unfortunately new maxi-cosi's when you take the wedge out, the head pillow comes out too (stupid change!). I think probably about 5 months for us but daughter is only wee.

London I have a new cabriofix that has a manufacture date of Jan 2010 and I can still take out the foam leaving the head hugger. The foam comes out of the cover a bit like the cover is a pillow case and the foam is the pillow. On one side the 'pillowcase' is sew closed, on the other side the fabric can be pulled out and then you can remove the foam.
