removing straps from britax evolva 123 - HELP???!!!

Please please help me before I either burst into tears or throw the carseat through my front window... [INFURIATED]

I am trying to remove the straps from my Britax Evolva 123 - so that my 3.5 year old will now use the actual car seat belt. I have got about half way through following the instructions (found online here) but I am completely stuck on page 42. I can't work out whether I'm supposed to remove the straps or tuck them away, or how or what or anything.

Please can someone help me? It's just what to do with the straps. Are they supposed to come off or stay on? Thank you

yes I am imagining dp's reaction when we try to re-use the seat for ds2, and he asks me what the hell I managed to do with all the straps... glad it's not only me that's confused!!

iirc they slide off the metal piece and are stored behind the cover, roughly where the gaps are you have been routing the seat belt through until now, where the seat back meets the base.

Hmmm, that sort of makes sense, although I can't see an obvious way to store them. It just looks like every time the car seat moves around they're going to fall out and come unravelled...
