Maxi Cosi Easyfit ISOFIX base and Cabriofix Seat

Just spent an ABSOLUTE FORTUNE on a Maxi Cosi Easyfit ISOFIX base and a Cabriofix seat. Delivered today and DH is trying it out in the car and on the pram chassis...

It moves...

It doesn't move in a "not locked in properly" way - more in a "when its locked in it has a bit of a wobble" type way.

We are just wondering if its supposed to have a bit of "give" in it - its definately fitted and locked in correctly and its not going to fall out, but both in the pram chassis (with the adapter clips) and in the Easyfit base when its in the car, the seat can be wobbled.

I personally think its a bit like suspension and if it was locked in so it was immoveable then the poor baby would get shoogle around an awful lot. DH is just a bit worried that its faulty and, as I'm 32 weeks pg, if it needs to go back and be replaced then it needs to go back now...

So, anyone got this combo, and does it wobble...??

We've been using ours for 81/2 months, and I think I've noticed ours wobbling as I fling and bash our increasingly heavy ds and chair into the base. Which pram base do you have?

I'll ask DH when he's back if he knows if this is okay, as he did the fitting.

Pingpong · 23/11/2009 20:25

I had the easyfix not the Isofix as my car is old and doesn't have the isofix attachments so my base was secured by the seatbelt which I had really tight and it didn't wobble, it was solid as a rock.
Doesn't sound right to me!

Bathsheba · 23/11/2009 20:57

I've got a Mutsy pram, so I've got the Mutsy adapters for it.

The base doesn;t wobble when its fitted in the car, and the seat is securely locked into the base, but the seat has a bit of a wobble to it whilst in the base....does that make sense...

DH says, if it's the base that's wobbling, that doesn't sound right. Also, we have the adaptors and a loola up, and there's no give between the adaptors and the cabriofix, although the pram base does have a bit of give, but that is the suspension.

DH also says, that it seems odd for the seat to be wobbling in both settings, as - for our setup at least - the seat attaches to the pram and to the isofix base in different places, so would be odd for both of them to be out.

Can you get the people who sold it to you to check your installation?

IsItMeOr · 23/11/2009 21:00

Sorry x-post. DH thinks that sounds okay, but we'll check ours in the morning and come back to you.

Hi

We bought it online so we can't get the suppliers to check....

Its sideways movement it has....

I have the isofix base in DH's car and the easyfix in mine. It definitely moves (particularly side to side). I can't see how it could be rock solid and unmoving, that wouldn't be possible would it as it is two seperate things joined together.

Stop panicking

Bathsheba · 24/11/2009 04:01

Thanks Suwoo

Our other car seats are all Isofix ones (the other 2 we have) but we've never had a rear facing newborn one with an Isofix base before....the other 2 are absolutely rock solid because they are just 1 piece, so I think Dh is expecting the 2 piece set up to be the same...

I think that if there wasn't some "give" in it that the baby would be really rattled around going over bumps, but he is concerned that its faulty, and that it will "rattle" and annoy him...

Ours certainly doesn't rattle when there's a baby in it.

StealthPolarBear · 24/11/2009 08:14

yes mine wobbles slightly (if you wobble it) in the car seat base. I remember asking my friend the same thing and she told me hers did the same

StealthPolarBear · 24/11/2009 08:15

ie if you pull it to one side, it will move slightly to one side.

Lucky13 · 24/11/2009 12:57

my seat wobbles too - not a lot though, but the base is solid. Had it checked by road safety officer and fine.

Bathsheba · 24/11/2009 16:19

Fantastic - seems its all fine....

If DH is still not satisfied, might be worth checking whether the road safety officer at your local council will check it for him you.

Does anyone else have the problem that baby's head flops forward when he's in the maxicosi car seat? It doesn't seem right to me. He's 17 weeks old and I've just taken the foam bit out but this hasn't solved the problem.

IslandIsla · 03/12/2009 13:36

tessandtwins, my baby did that too. I found taking the headhugger off helped (is this what you mean by the foam bit?) - basically she would lean forward and then couldn't put her head back. When the headhugger was removed she could put her head back.
