I have been researching and really have my heart set on the Kiddy Infinity Pro for my DS when he grows out of his infant seat. I don't drive and I feel this seat being lighter than most group 1 seats will be the most practical for my situation. I also really like the design, that their shoulders aren't pinned back, they can't reach the seatbelt buckle, it seems easy to use and I am impressed with the safety ratings, side impact ratings are very important to me too.
But at the weekend we happened to be near a Mamas & Papas shop and I took the opportunity to try DS out in their carseat with impact cushion (can't remember name of it - similar to Comfort Pro though) - and he absolutely hated it. He fought the cushion and when the lady in the shop managed to get him strapped in (they had a mock "car backseat") he screamed until we undid it Now I am wondering whether it will be a bad idea to get it or not.
The only thing I can think that might have been wrong is that it seemed very tight on top of his legs to me - like there was not enough room between the seat base and the impact cushion. I was expecting it to "pin" the baby into the seat more by the tummy than legs so I was surprised at this. I would be interested to know what the difference is and/or if there is any adjustment with the Kiddy seat. (I think there is a cushion which folds out?) DS is 13 months and about average size and I wonder if the seat in the shop was set up for the smallest baby it accommodates, a 9 month old.
So, if anyone can answer my question I would be very grateful, if you own one of the Kiddy seats and live near a Mamas & Papas shop I would be interested if someone could go in and compare the two even if the comparison was just based on the memory of the Kiddy seat (ie I don't expect anyone to drag the seat into the shop to compare directly!)
Or just to ask if your DC didn't like the seat at first did they like it when they got used to it/when the car was moving? I really had my heart set on this seat but if DS is really going to hate it then I would be better getting something else I think.
