Isofix car seat for a Mazda MX-5

I have a people carrier at the moment and have had the same car seat from birth, however I am going to be buying a Mazda MX-5 in the next few weeks, which has the Iso-fix system.

Any advice on the best car seat to buy? My son is 4 years old and does still like to have a nap in the car, so I want one that is not only safe, but that he can take a nap in without his head falling forwards all the time.

Many thanks

How heavy is he?

The cybex x-fit has great reviews

Don't know about isofix but I have an 02 MX-5 and I got a Mercedes Benz car seat like this one Hellishly expensive (about £180 new) but necessary as it has a transponder to cancel the air bag (I assume your car will have a switch). It is a bit of a beast but ds (5) says it is far more comfortable than the one we have in our other car (Maxi Cosi).

MollieO that is the same as the Britax Kid (same name even!) but obviously the britax version doesn't have the transponder.

My youngest has got the BMW/Porshe state I & II and it is so much more padded than most car seats.

I@m hankering after 2 x Cybex for my older dc, I love isofix no more moving around as they climb in & out of them.

Looks like it but the MB one has softer cloth, more like a velour. It is very padded and ds sleeps really well in it.

Mine isn't isofix but it is so heavy that there isn't any movement unless ds really throws himself in or out of it.

don't know about the kiddy seat but highly recommend the MX-5

I love my MX-5. It pre-dates ds and I keep thinking about changing it for something more sensible. Nearly did this year until I saw a father and son standing looking at it with the father saying to his son what a lovely car it is . Ds loves driving with the roof down whenever its sunny (even in winter - cosy with heating on full blast and heated seats!).

Thanks Everyone

I'll take a look at the Cybex.

Jasper and Mollie - I know what you mean about the MX-5. I'm getting a company car, so will still have a sensible 'family' car, but after getting promotion at work, the MX-5 is my treat for working my backside off for this promotion for the last 2 years. I have the photo's of the one I like on my fridge and my stomach turns everytime I look at it.
