Car seat battles

I am having so much trouble getting my toddler in the car but only when we are leaving home... she goes like an ironing board trying to get her in, kicks, twists, stands, screams, hyperventilates. I end up crying myself and giving up. I don't want to hurt her by forcing her in but this has happened 5 days on the trot! Any advice? I try and explain to her where we are going (I.e. nursery, to Nanna's (who she ADORES) and it does not work.
However, me and her Dad did split up a few months ago, could this have anything to do with it? She spends every other weekend overnight with him but has a lot more 1 on 1 time with me now. Getting in a car seat to come home from wherever we are is no problem at all. We tried in my mum's car in case she suddenly didn't like the seat and had the same problem!

Do you drive her to her dad's or does he pick her up? I'd guess it is related and she's worried on some level that she'll be going away and not coming back, hence it only being an issue when leaving the house.
