hi so my partner and I are thinking about starting to try for a baby but we have a 6 and 4 year old both still in harness car seats. Would it be best to swap 6 year old to a booster seat when we have baby? Also would it be best seating 6 year old in the middle seat then the two car seats next to him? as in either side of him

What seat is he in now? Since it could take a few months to get pregnant plus the 9 months of pregnancy I expect he would be fine in a booster seat by the age of 7 or 8, yes. High back ideally but backless is not the end of the world at that age.

Who goes in the middle is a bit more of a complicated question - it depends on your car, what seats you have, how they fit together etc. It's more the shape of them really. And you need to check the car manual to work out whether you are allowed to put a seat in the middle as well.

I believe its the Joie Elevate. Thanks so much for the reply makes a lot of sense I think I was just panicking over nothing especially since it's not actually happening yet it's just not something we'd thought of really. We've got an Audi A4 at the moment but will defo look into the manuals etc to see what the best thing to do is.

Thank you

OK, unless he's very light for his age, at 6 he is almost definitely over the weight limit to use the 5 point harness in the Elevate. Check the manual or the orange label on the seat. The weight with "Y" next to it is the limit of the harness, the 36kg is the overall weight limit for the seat when used as a high back booster. the weight limit is different based on whether you have the R44 version or R129 but I would expect he will be over it either way.

Double check for 4yo as they may be over the limit as well if they have the same one.
