Hello
Has anyone any experience of retrofitting ISOFix brackets for children's car seats to a 2004 Range Rover Sport .I am going to go to Halfords as I have been told they may do it ,Our garage will not do it as they are not insured for that type of work .Any suggestions ?

If you can't get an official part directly from Range Rover, don't do it. The aftermarket kits they sell online are not tested, regulated or safe. Retrofitting is only possible for a few brands, Ford being the main one, so I'm not sure if Range Rover do it or not.

Halfords don't do it as far as I am aware.

Are you 100% sure the car doesn't already have isofix points? In a car of that age they are not always present, but where they are they aren't always obvious. Have a good dig around in the gap between the cushions for the seat and backrest and see if you can feel any.

If you have none, what is the reason you're wanting to retrofit? There are car seats which can be fitted with the seatbelt for every stage, so isofix is not necessarily needed.

What is is you want to achieve by retrofitting? You can still put car seats in using a seat belt.

I meant to add this to my earlier post regarding aftermarket "universal" kits. The article is only in German but Chrome should translate, and the video/photo is self-explanatory.

Basically they fail totally in a crash and would not secure the child seat. A proper isofix fitting is bolted or welded to the chassis of the car.
