Choosing a car and seat at the same time

I have a nine month old daughter who is above the 99.6th centile for weight and above 98th for height - I currently have a Cybex Cloud T infant carrier and a Toyota Aygo but the carrier weight limit is 13kg and she already weighs over 11.5kg so I’m looking to buy a new car and car seat that will be suitable for a while. The car doesn’t easily fit the carrier plus pram/ a tall-ish passenger so I think I need a bigger car over finding a seat to fit the Aygo.

I have been looking at the Skoda Karoq, Kia Sportage or Ford Kuga with the Axkid Minikid 2 or 3 or the Avionaut Sky 2.0 - does anyone have any experience or recommend any of these? Or, given my daughter is still quite young would I be better off with something like the Joie iSpin so it’s easier to get her in and out even though it wouldn’t last as long? It’s a bit difficult because I don’t have the car yet to know how much leg room there would be too. We are hoping to do IVF again next year so there may or may not be another child/ car seat to consider in the next few years. Thank you!

Go for the Minikid 4 - the Minikid 3 was discontinued and babies tend to fit the 2 better when they are closer to 12m than 9m. Also, the 4 has more capacity both height and weight wise so will be good long term.

As for the car, find your nearest Axkid retailer and ask their opinion. They have typically fitted these seats into dozens if not hundreds of car models. But the Minikids tend to be pretty universal.

The Avionaut is smaller and not so good for high centile children. It might be worth it if you will definitely have a sibling to hand down to, but honestly I think the Minikid will be a better long term choice.

No advice on a car seat but I love my Karoq. Great boot and high driving position with very good visibility.

Thank you both very much! I have the details of my nearest specialist retailer so I’ll
get in touch with them and ask about getting a Minikid 4 and if they can give any guidance on cars and then I can book in some test drives 🚗
