Volvo v40 2014 car seats

My car is a Volvo v40 - I think 2014

Has anyone found a good car seat that fits well?
Both our cybex and maxi cosí are v hard to buckle in.
Doesn't seem safe in case of an emergency.

My kid has to strain with her abdomen against the belt to pop it out

It's for a 3 and 6 year old

You cannot use the seat if your child can pop the seatbelt open!! We have a V40 and no issues really with what has fitted. Are you loosening the straps off for your three year olds harness before putting her in? I don't really understand why they are hard to buckle.

The 3 year old is currently in a joie spin but getting too big for it.

The problem is more with the 6 year old. Both seats seem too wide at the base, so when you lean over you have to struggle for about a minute to engage it. It does fully click in but then when you press the red button the metal bit almost gets stuck due to its position and the easiest way for her to get it out is to strain her body against it.
This is the same with both belts on either side. The car seats work fine in our Hyundai

Would you mind sharing what you have?

The joie spin is fine because it doesn't need the cars seatbelt, it has its own straps

Ah I see. I'd try pulling the seat closer to the door so the there's no interference on the seat belt clip. We have ERF seats so won't move to a high backed booster until they are 7ish, but our Axkidd move, britax maxway and Avionaut Sky all fit and would be good for your three year old to move to.

I think this is just a case of taking the car to a car seat shop and trying out different options to see which have the best shaped base for your car.

A 3yo should definitely stay in a 5 point harness a bit longer, so don't rush to change them. How close to the limits (and their fourth birthday) are they?
