Electric car options for 3 children

Just wondering what your solutions have been, car-wise. Looking to get a new car soon and planning baby 3, so we’d have a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a new born.

I’d rather all 3 children went in the back, as I believe that’s safer, but I can’t find an electric car with 3 isofix in the back. It must be electric (looking to salary sacrifice to get below £100k for childcare benefits), with a decent range (300 miles plus, ideally).

Have you accepted one child will have to be in the front seat? If so, which child? Or get a non isofix for the eldest and put them in the middle seat? Got a 7 seater instead?

Any car recommendations?

Hi OP,
I don’t have any advice on a specific car, but you are able to consider non-isofix car seats, it may give you options. Will your 5 year old be in a harnessed seat or HBB? You don't need to use the isofix on a HBB, you’ll just need to remember to secure it with the seatbelt when it’s not being used.

If you need to consider putting one in the passenger seat with the airbag off (which is fine to do), then I’d put the infant carrier there.

We have 3 teens. We have a polestar. Lovely car.

Thanks everyone. Yes, non-isofix is an option, just thought isofix would be easier, as wouldn't need to secure it (and thought it's considered safer?!), but it doesn't look like that's viable.

Ideally, placed between the 2 isofix car seats in the back. I feel like that's safer than sitting online the front. So need something wide enough for 3 across in the back I guess.

Not properly considered the polestar, I guess I dudbt really know the brand. Which one? Will have a look

Have you looked at the Berlingo and similar? We rented one for a holiday and considered buying but the electric was just out of our price range. It easily fitted 3 car seats. We only have two in car seats but were able to put them side by side or with an adult in the middle no problem. All 3 seats are independent and full size.

You could also look at Multimac but you would lose the ability to rear face the youngest past about age 2. You've got good age gaps for it to work otherwise.
