Is this seat safe?

So my husband and I are buying a new car.
The seat has integrated headrest and this is how it looks. It feels very comfortable.
Is the seat safe? Is the headrest area OK in a case of accident?

Is this seat safe?

No idea. Sorry to be a bit daft but is that the drivers seat? Or the middle row of a 7 seater? How old is the passenger?

It's the front passenger seat. Same as a drivers seat. The back seats have adjustable head rest area and aren't problematic. Front seats would be used for adults only, no kids.

The car has to go through safety testing to be allowed to be sold. Have a look at the NCAP rating if concerned about it but I don't think a one piece seat is a problem.

There will be a section about seatbelts and safety in the car manual, it's worth reading through this.

The problem is that NCAP rating is done only for standard seats.
Unfortunately there is no rating for this version of the seat.

It will be safe. But don't buy it if it's uncomfortable

DiscoBeat · 30/06/2024 07:57

Oh sorry, I misread it. It will have gone through lots of safety tests.

I thought the point of headrests was just to stop your head going too far back in case of an accident, which these look like they will do?

We've got similar in one of our cars (sports bucket "race" seats) and they're the seats that come from the manufacturer, so I thought they would be safe.

You might be best off looking somewhere like Pistonheads - this forum is more for baby car seat queries. Not a lot of adult safety experts here Smile
