Rotating base for infant carrier?

Having spent many an hour navigating the minefield of car seats and infant carriers for our first child due in a couple of months, I am now torn between two seats and the main difference is one has a rotating base and one does not. The seats are the BeSafe iZi go modular X2 and Cybex Cloud T.

I know there are a few other features which differ but the one that will make the difference for us is the rotate, I am just not sure it is worth the extra £200 for the rotating feature especially on a infant seat which I can just take off the base and position however I want, DH thinks the rotate is worth it. Opinions?

NB we have already bought a BeSafe iZi twist B for one car and will be ERF in the 2nd car as well when the time comes but want an infant carrier for this car as it will be used the most usually with just one parent around so need the convenience factor.

We've been back and forth on this too (due in June) and the decision has been made by our pushchair chassis not being compatible with a 360 car seat.

We're going to get a standard seat for the first size that can be taken in and out and clipped to the frame, and when we have to upgrade to next size anyway we'll get a 360 then.

A friend with older children assures us that a 360 doesn't come into its own until they're big enough to start resisting the car seat and struggling anyway Grin

IMO, no, it's not worth an extra £200.

The Besafe seat is on a good offer right now. The only thing I'm not keen on about it is the 75cm height limit. I find that annoyingly short. But TBH it's similar to the other seats that are normally that price and are a bit more basic.

The next stage seat for that base is actually very good value as well - I don't usually say this but they are decent as a modular set.

If you haven't seen the Besafe Go Beyond you might want to wait for that, though. It's literally just released in Europe and I'm guessing it will be out in the UK soon (their website just says Spring). However, it will be similar price to Cybex most likely.

Thanks for the replies. The BeSafe Beyond is the seat I really want but I've been told that it won't be available for dispatch until August which is a couple of months after baby will be here.

I've tried a couple of seats in my car this weekend and there's not a whole lot of space so I think we'll go with the Cybex Cloud T infant carrier for now and probably replace with something more compact like the Avionaut Sky when baby outgrows the infant carrier. Not sure I have space for the besafe modular seat, at least not with a passenger, we tried the izi twist in my car and its just too big

Oh wow really, August? That's a shame.

The izi Twist is a huge seat because of the isofix that accommodates tilting seats, and because it has a bit more leg room than most isofix seats. But a 25kg seat will last longer anyway so sounds like a good plan. The Cybex Cloud is enormous and you can get away with using it for ages if you want to - easily over 2 years unless your baby is very tall.
