Isofix issue

Looking for opinions, especially from anyone with knowledge of car safety/ motor industry.

Found a new car which ticks all my boxes but noticed during test drive that one isofix point was bent and would not connect properly

Dealership proposing to investigate and fix (not replace dodgy isofix point). Unsure whether I'm being unduly anxious about issue as car is otherwise great. Does anyone know if an isofix point can be fixed and guaranteed as safe? Very little info out there.

Thanks x

I have no idea if they can fixed and they're safe so I hope someone can advise

However it would put me off completely if I wasn't 100% convinced. I've got two small kids and their safety comes before an otherwise perfect car

I'm sure you'd be the same I just wouldn't be able to get it out of my mind!

I hope someone offers some more helpful advice x

Have they definitely said they are going to investigate and fix the Isofix point rather than investigate and fix the problem?

If it's being done by the dealership then presumably they have conversation with the manufacturer, if the car manufacturer is in agreement that it's safe then I would have thought no issue. It's the dodgy "universal isofix" kits sold online that I would be wary of, an official part no problem.

You could always ask them how they intend to fix it and whether or not that would put undue stress on the metal, considering that this is potentially a stress point in a future hypothetical car accident.

Alternatively unless you have 2 children, could you not just put the child seat on the other side of the car?

Thanks so much everyone. Apparently dealership is going to investigate properly tomorrow. Just unsure whether my anxiety is making me make a snap decision if that makes sense. I think I may just walk away for peace of mind but I e-signed a contract without realising I had done so!
