Can all isofix compatible car seats be used without the base?

Hi there,
I am getting a bit confused about car seat options! I would like a newborn one with a handle that I can easily take in and out of the car. I would like one that doesn't need an isofix base so that it can be used in cars that are not isofix compatible. Can all isofix compatible car seats also be used with just a seatbelt? Particularly the Joie i-snug 2 i-size baby car seat?

Thanks in advance 😊

No, some need to be on the base, others can be belted too.

I’ve just looked up the manual for that specific seat, and it can be used with or without the base.

No, we have a maxi cosi pearl for my 2.5 year old and that can only be used with a base.

The vast majority of the baby seats can be. There are a few models that can't.

The i-snug you can.

The toddler ones for the next age up as PP says tend to be Isofix or belt, not both.

Are you going to be using it without the base a lot? I'd recommend going to a shop and trying it out. Some models/brands are easier to do this with than others. I found Joie seats weren't as nice for the belt fitting as maxi Cosi or Britax.
