Car seat not fitting right in new car

Hi

First time poster, just need some advice on my car seat!
We've brought a honda civic and our joie bold car seat won't sit the same as in our other car. It's isofix with a top tether.
When we pull the tether as tight as we can so the car seat is flat against the back of the seat the bottom of the car seat lifts up and isn't flat to bottom of the seat. If we loosen the tether so it's flat on the bottom there's a gap at the back and you are able to move the car seat back and forth.
The manual says it's compatible with the car but surely there shouldn't be a gap at the bottom or the back?
Please can someone help on this!

Thanks

I would get it checked professionally if you are not happy. Sometimes where you bought it from will check it. Sorry no help really but ask on local fb, there are charity's that also help

I think you need to query this with Joie. The shape of the seats will play in and I have heard of top tether seats doing this sometimes. You could ask them whether it's OK to have that gap at the bottom. Their customer services team are usually really repsonsive.

The tether tightness must be sufficient to make the indicator on the tether green, but I'm not sure whether more tightness than that is beneficial or not.

Thank you for the replies 😊. Unfortunately there is nowhere near me that checks car seats! But I have gone ahead and emailed Joie, hopefully they can advise what to do.

Car seat safety uk on Facebook will check installation and the child's fit if you provide photos. They're amazing.

hello
hope you don’t mind me asking - did you get a reply from Joie? We are having the exact same issue with our car seat! Thank you 😊

mumof1or2 · 07/08/2023 20:58

You've probably already tried this but have you looked for a YouTube video on how to fit it in your particular car? I did this when we got our car seat and found a step by step guide.

We had the same issue with a Joie car seat 5 years ago, after a few weeks of me worrying and communicating with Joie I was told my car's seats (Qashqai) weren't suitable for the car seat as they were too "bucket-like" for the car seat to be safely secured. Cue me going to Mamas and Papas where I bought it from and crying hysterically. They were very kind and exchanged for a Maxi Cosi pebble which fit brilliantly. I think there needs to be more advertising that not all car seats suit all vehicles.

Las14082014 - I did and they want more pictures/videos of the fit. I've not used that car since so haven't moved the seat back over to get them. But I would email them if you're having issues they are quick to reply.

mumof1or2 - I did and there wasn't one for this particular car unfortunately.

mummabubs - that's very annoying! Did the manual say your car was compatible? It does with mine.

Luckily we have another car which is the one I use. But its just helpful to be able to use the seat in both for taking the car to the garage etc!

@Laymon28 I'm not sure to be honest, but Mamas and Papas knew which car I had when I ordered in store.
