Isofix issues

Hi guys, I've just bought a Mazda 2. It's a 23 plate and I'm having issues using the isofix 😩 the anchors are buried amongst the seat fabric and so hard to get to. Is there any technique to it? I can't seem to get the isofix connector to fit through the little gap

You need some of these to hold the fabric open. There should have been a pair with your car seat, but they are interchangeable, you can use a set from any isofix seat or even buy generic ones.
