Cybex Cloud Z 2 too tight for newborn?

Has anyone else had this seat and just found it way to cramped for their baby? It seems to be so narrow, he is jammed into it, his shoulders look so uncomfortable and he screams every time he’s in it so I can’t go anywhere far! He’s 54cm so can’t take out the newborn insert yet, he’s 3 weeks and 10lb, supposedly this insert is meant to be in until roughly 3 months too which seems impossible, it’s tiny and rock hard. Am I putting him in wrong somehow? I can’t find a video or picture anywhere of actually strapping a baby into one.

Sorry I have absolutely no advice but following because this is the baby seat I currently have my heart set on. DP is 6ft 4 and shaped like a rectangle so hope baby doesn’t follow!!

I did think the Cybex looked very small but I liked the protection on the sides. Hope you manage to resolve!! X

@KM91 buy the Avionaut pixel Pro-it's a much better seats or the Avionaut Cosmo - it's the one all the car seat specialist recommended.

@Twtls123 join extended rear facing Facebook group and they will help with a fit check.
My daughter is small but hated the cybex cloud Z and we replaced it with the Axkid ONE but other seats are available for younger babies.
I also like the look of the besafe stretch B as it will last ages!

Normally people find the cybex cloud Z too big for babies as it hasn't got the best of newborn inserts. It's one of the biggest height limits as well so some people get to 2 years plus if they have smaller children.

Do you have the headrest set at the right setting? It should just be resting on their shoulders so that the shoulders are underneath it and have space at the sides.

You can send pictures to Cybex or go back to where you bought it for advice, it's difficult to advise online as obviously we can't see your baby and people have different experiences with the seat. IME it tends to be a really well fitting one for newborns, so it's strange to see so many people struggle with it.

For anybody still looking at seats it is worth finding a local retailer who you feel confident in going back to for advice/support. Even if it's slightly more expensive than online it's usually worth it for this kind of customer service which can be invaluable when you're a brand new parent.
