Car seat sits so far up right

Currently pregnant with number 2 and I'm wanting to get a new car seat. We have a silver cross simplicity but I found the car seat was so upright, My first child's head would look so far forwards, I had to constantly pull over and check him and caused so much anxiety to drive anywhere when I live in the middle of no where so have to drive!

My friend worked in mothercare years ago and I'm now being told it might actually be the seat in my cars problem and that the seats in the car are too slanted and the Isofix connection points are too low down. As she used to have to cut the seat in the car so it met a safe criteria before they could let the parents leave with a car seat.

I drive a Nissan qashqai 2014-2021 model. Has anyone had a problem with this car or the simplicity silvercross car seat? I don't want to buy a new car seat to find out it's my cars issue.

TIA

It probably is the slope of the rear seat, though I don't know about cutting the seat - that sounds a bit destructive!

You'd do better with something that has a flex base option to counteract the slope. Off the top of my head these would be the options:

Graco Snugride (not pram compatible)
Britax i-sense or i-size 3 with flex base (compatible with universal adaptors to pram)
Britax babysafe 2 with flex base (older model, not pram compatible)
Joie infant carriers that go with their i-Advance base - universal pram adapter compatible
Cybex Aton 5 with base 2-fix (but this is hard to buy now as too old - is pram compatible)

Or something that reclines in the car - Joie i-Level, Cybex Cloud Z2, Maxi Cosi Marble.

If you are wanting something long lasting and don't need the carry seat look at Axkid One+, Avionaut Sky, Besafe izi Turn (or Twist) and Besafe Stretch. For the Besafe seats you need it with the "B" baby insert.

Besafe turn/twist have a rotate option and a clever spirit level bubble system to check the angle, lasts until 105cm (approx 4) Turn has a forward facing option, Twist is rear facing only.

The others do not rotate but last until 125cm (approx 7).

What seat are you using for your 2yo now, do you still have the same issue? Or are you forward facing now?
