Hi. I have this cat seat in excellent condition from my first child. He hated it so it was barely used. We also have the isofix base with it. I notice it isn’t available anymore. Would we be ok to use it again or is there a reason why not?

Be cautious as car seats do have expiry dates. The polystyrene inside degrades, especially if they've been stored in sheds or attics with extreme temps. Maxi Cosi say they last from eight years depending on the model, but that's not eight years from when you buy it. It may have been on the shelf for a while since manufacturer. There is usually a sticker which will tell you when it was made. safeconvertiblecarseats.com/brands/maxi-cosi/when-do-maxi-cosi-car-seats-expire/

That isn't relevant to UK seats, it's talking about American ones which are made to a different spec.

In the UK Maxi Cosi advise a max of 10 years to use one seat so this will be fine to reuse, especially as it hasn't suffered much wear and tear. A seat in constant use for 7 years is very different from one that has been stored (just check it for mould).

Thanks, there is no mould it is immaculate. As is the familyfix base. I’ve probably put in my husbands mind it isn’t safe now though 🙁

If you contact Maxi Cosi customer service I'm sure they'll be able to reassure you :)
