Car seat advice please?!

Hi, my car seat knowledge is very limited as a first time mum. I’m looking for a new seat for my one year old. He’s 2stone and 36cmH. He’s at the childminders in the week so ideally need something we can switch between all our cars. I’ve seen a lot of car seats state there rear facing until 18kg so think he would grow out of this pretty quick. Any suggestions please?

36cm must be a typo? Most babies are 50cm born. 36 inches is the size of a 3yo so I think that must be incorrect as well.

Anyway 2 stone is about 12/13kg so he probably would outgrow an 18kg limit seat before age 3. You'd be best off with one that is rear facing up to 25kg. These are a bit more annoying to fit as they tend not to be isofix, but once the tethers are in place you can leave them there and they don't interfere with any other car users. That's the time consuming bit so the actual fitting of the seat is quick.

For budget friendly models I'd look at Axkid Move or Britax Max Way. There might be sales on in January. They come with one set of tethers so you'd want to get extra sets equal to the number of cars e.g. for 3 cars, 2 extra sets of tethers.
