Car seat straps

Does anyone know anything about 0+ car seats?
DS is a couple of days shy of 7mths, around 70cm and 7.5kg so tall-ish but not huge.
When I put him into his car seat, the straps at the highest position are about an inch below his shoulders. The seat is supposed to last until he's around 13kg or around 1yr old. Are the straps supposed to be so low down and are they still ok for when he gets taller? They definitely don't adjust any higher. I read that straps for backward facing seats are supposed to be at or just below the shoulders but when he gets taller they'll practically be at his waist. Not sure if I'm missing something but I feel if the straps are so low down, no matter tight they are they still have to come up and over his shoulders so wouldn't be holding him into the chair.

Have u checked there's no hidden wedge in the seat, silver Cross for example has a piece of foam in the bottom

I have checked and there is no extra padding to remove - thanks for the idea though.

What seat do you have? Our infant seat had a hidden place to adjust the straps in the back.

If you post the make and model of the seat someone may have the instruction manual

It's an Ickle Bubba galaxy. I contacted them and they just said it's been tested to the highest standards and is suitable up to 13kg.
Definitely no other adjustments to the seat according to the instructions (adjusts at the back with a clip/lever and it's at the top).

Do any of you have an older/taller child? How low down are the shoulder straps on them?

Hi I no you said there wasn't a insert but if you haven't took one out by the looks of the instructions there should be
I can't add a picture but on page 10 section f it says about a filling block which of its the same as the silver Cross u have to take a piece of foam out of the main cover nothing to do with the newborn insert you take out it

Height wise your son is taller than my little girl and I no it can depend where the child has the height legs or body but she would have fitted in her 0+ seat up until 3 ish

No expert but as far as I'm aware it's not particularly safe to have them in the seat if the straps are going to be to far down his back I thought it should be in line or just below the shoulders

If they're in the top position then it's normally safe to keep using it like that until the child's head reaches the top of the seat shell. Unless you notice them slipping down then it's not an issue.

Theres a lever at the back of that carseat that moves the headrest up and moves the straps up with it.

Also make sure baby is pulled all the way down ‘nappy to buckle’ rather than pushing their bum back into the seat

Thanks for all the posts! I've had another look and the only thing that could be an insert is a semi-circular block of foam under the seat fabric and padding, but it doesn't look like the picture so not sure if it's the right thing though.

If that link takes you to a picture that's what comes up on Google for your carseat and this is what the silver Cross one looks like so I think you have prob found the insert by your description
