Car seats

Heavy baby, which car seat?!

My son is nearly 1 and he already weighs 37lb and is 85 cm tall. I had bought the Joie Every Stage, hoping he could rear face for longer, but he is now pretty much over the line of the max weight. I have been trying to research other seats, it seems that alot of them say the harness cant be used after 18kg and they have to swap to seatbelt. Surely this is not safe for a baby of 1. Really confused about what to do as I need three car seats so can't afford to buy the Axkid.

You can get seats that rearface to 25kg. (Or even 36kg I believe!) Try a specialist retailer, not a baby shop or Halfords etc.

And double check the weight... Mine were lighter than that at 4yo...

@Aroundtheworldin80moves OOps Just checked weight, I was wrong he was 13kg or 29lb at last hv appt a month ago, but still looking like he will outgrow the 18kg ones. Just a bit worried as I can't afford 3 of the specialist rear facing seats!

We have one Axkid minikid and 3 sets of teathers which stay in place. Means moving the seat is easier than an isofix one!!

Alternatively the Two Way Elite is far cheaper, as is the Axkid Move

I’d get some spare tethers to keep in the other cars, and buy either the Britax TWE, MaxWay or the Axkid move. this will make it easier to move between cars and that way you only need one seat
