We have just fitted our isofix base in car when we put base in to isofix points and put leg down to the floor as per instructions all indicators green but could lift base up from the front including leg off the floor same when car seat was on it definitely doesnt seem right, we then managed to extend leg out at more of an angle so it stayed put but that was only because the front of the base had then lifted off the cars seat and the baby car seat was wedged against back of the seat which again im sure shouldn't happen any tips or ideas on how to resolve please

Have you got a local fitter you can get it checked at? No clues other than trying to refit it yourselves or watching some youtube videos?

This is completely normal for isofix bases, unless they have an anti-rebound bar they will completely lift up. It's so that you can get the correct angle in different cars which will have different angles to the seat.

That's fine, because in a car accident the forces push the seat/base forwards and down. There is no upwards/backwards movement unless you're reversing at speed into a wall. In addition the baby seat itself will normally need the handle to be up or pointing towards the baby's feet (refer to manual or illustration on side of seat to clarify) which acts as a kind of "roll cage" to prevent the seat rebounding back into the vehicle seat back. The handle position is very important, so don't overlook this.
