Need to get a new car seat for my 1 year old. I want rear facing. The one I want is £400 and that's possibly even Without the isofix base 😫

Does anyone have a good one they can recommend?

How much does your LO weigh? And how long do you want to keep them rear facing? If they’re on the higher centiles it’d be worth looking into a 25KG seat as this can last until a minimum of 5, or the other option is an 18kg seat (which could be useful if you have future DC, then you can move DC1 into a 25KG seat once DC2 outgrows the infant carrier).

Do you have a budget?

Joie spin is a rather popular one—around £200 for the 360 and they also do three other options—the i-spin (£280), spin safe (rear facing only, £250) and the i-spin safe (like the i-spin with no forward facing. Most expensive at £300). There is also the Britax dualfix which I rather like too.

The 25KG ones are all seatbelt fitted (except the axkid one, which is £600 Confused). The popular ones tend to be the Britax two way elite (£160-180), Britax max way (rear facing only, £180), axkid move (again, RF only and typically £225). They also do more premium versions—the Britax MaxWay plus and Axkid MiniKid too.

Just wondering—which seat was it that was £400 without the base? If it’s one of the cybex ones these actually tend to be outgrown heights wise a lot earlier. Smile

That's a lot of information! You must work for halfords 🤣 thanks so much.

It's one of the besafe ones. I had it for my DD but she was sick on it and it got ruined after only having it for a few months, so reluctant to rebuy

He was 10kg at his 1 year check 2 months ago

10kg at one sounds average so any of the seats will work. One of the most popular ones are the Joie 360 as you can spin it around to get DC in and out of the car which many find to be a good feature. Maxi Cosi also have one—the mica although I personally wouldn’t recommend the axissfix as it’s only RF until two. Nuna do some too. There are a lot but these ones come off the top of my head.

I think the most important thing is to make sure that it can definitely fit in your car and you know how to do it. Also worth bearing in mind (restriction permitting of course!) that if you could take your DS and try him out in different car seats to see which one you like best, and which one is comfiest for him.

The BeSafe ones tend to be rather expensive to be fair! Although they are good quality, the price tag is just so high! Eg the izi twist/turn is £500 when you could get two of the Joie Spin safe’s for the same price!

And to answer your question, I don’t work for Halfords actually Smile I was looking at working at another place that sells car seat but decided not to what with going back into lockdown!

Thanks again. Your info was so helpful. I bought the Joie 360!! Wasn't allowed to try him in any but they also recommend it. They said it was their best seller.
