Graduating from Joie 360 spin!

Hi!

Looking for recommendations of where to go next in the car seat minefield! (Have spent what seems like months going round and round scrolling through the options and still can’t decide!)

DD1 2ys8m is in the joie 360, DD2 10m is rapidly growing out of her joie i gemm infant carrier... the plan is to move DD2 into the spin and get DD1 a new seat. I was thinking it was obvious to get one that lasted til 12 but seems that they do quantity not quality and have a bad rep, but then the other options seem to just go up to 4 which wouldn’t give us a lot of mileage out of it, and I’d just get another spin if i was going to do this!

Any ideas would be gratefully received! Isofix a must, and (please don’t judge) she faces forward so doesn't need to do both. Don’t mind spending a bit if she’ll be in it for a while.

Smile

Have you looked at the Britax Advansafix? That's what I'm planning to move DS2 into if we have another baby and he needs to move out of the Joie 360 before he's outgrown it. You need top tether to fit it. It's the one Group 123 seat which seems to break the mould in terms of safety rating and gets a better safety rating than some standalone boosters/group 1 seats.

Or if you want the longer lasting harness you could look at Joie Bold, that needs top tether as well, but the harness can be used up to 25kg rather than 18kg which is what the Advansafix does.

Do you know how tall and heavy DD1 is? Any idea what age you'd be wanting to move her from harness to seatbelt?

Ah thanks @BertieBotts, the bold was on my radar, will have a look at the Britax too! Not sure of DD height/weight actually! She’s tall for her age but slight. I’d probably be happier with a harness for longer... DH keeps saying just buy one, but i always think it’s such a big decision!

I have the Joie 360 in my car for my DD and my OH has the Recaro Young Sport Hero in his car. I rate it highly and DD looks comfier in it than in the Joie seat. It will last all the way to 12 years old. I'm planning on getting one for my car when she outgrows the Joie.

Following as I’m in a similar predicament!

Hi I've just this evening taken the plunge and gone for a maxi cosi kore pro- it's isofix and should last till DS is 12. Good luck - it's a minefield!

RaeCJ82 · 03/08/2020 22:02

Just seen you need Isofix, which the Recaro seat isn't.

Snailsetssail · 03/08/2020 22:04

I moved DS from a 360 to a bold when DD outgrew her carrier. It’s a great seat.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 03/08/2020 22:13

I’ve heard good things about the Bold but have gone for the Radian 5 due to lack of top tether. It isn’t isofix though.

BertieBotts · 04/08/2020 21:40

I do think it's a decision worth spending a bit of time on. The car seat is essentially their seatbelt in the event of an accident plus it needs to be comfortable for them - you wouldn't just buy any old car without researching and test driving (or at the very least sitting in it!) first, I don't think this is much different. Don't lose sleep over it, but defo worth a bit of research.

Doggy you still need the top tether for the Radian 5 if fitting forward facing for a child over 18kg.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 04/08/2020 22:47

Yes, will be rear facing a bit longer as she’s only 2 but 18kg, but have the option to go forward facing when we get the next car.
Sorry, missed that bit, thanks for clarifying @BertieBotts , I don’t want to mislead anyone.

BertieBotts · 04/08/2020 22:55

Ah, that makes sense! :) No problem, just thought if you'd ordered it online and hadn't realised at least you'd have chance to send it back!
