Does anyone know if there is a car seat 9 month (9kg) plus that is both fitted by seatbelt and isofix? Want to be isofixed im the car but could do with transferring it into a campervan that doesn't have isofix. It also needs to recline too as I have a small 1 year old (just over 9kg) that falls asleep while in the car TIA

Do they not still fit in the infant carrier? Its OK until 18kg usually and may come with an isofix base to secure it

dementedpixie · 16/07/2020 11:41

sorry 13kg, not 18

dementedpixie · 16/07/2020 11:43

at that age/weight they should still rear face anyway so look for an extended rear facing seat if you want a bigger one

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/07/2020 11:44

Keep them in the infant seat til they outgrow it.

Then look at Extended Rear Facing carseat. We had the Britax 2way Elite. It's not isofix, just belted, but a correctly fitted belted seat is no safer than a correctly installed isofix seat.

Thank you for your reply. He probably would do but I've never had one. He's always been in the Joie 360 and I had a pram without ome. This car seat is for the grandparents and our camper

Cybex cloud z

BertieBotts · 16/07/2020 13:08

The only ones which fit both seatbelt and isofix are either really cheap brands that I wouldn't recommend or forward facing only, which at just 1yo he would be a little bit young for ideally.

Joie Stages might fit the bill? I'd probably just get the seatbelt fitted version though. There's an FX version which is seatbelt fitted when rear facing and isofix when forward facing.

@BertieBotts

I would love to know how my cybex cloud z is a cheap brand or forward facing Hmm

teaandlotusbiscoff · 16/07/2020 14:09

@2155User OP asked for a seat that is group 1/nine months plus. Cybex cloud is group 0+ and only suitable to 18mos, so OP wouldn’t necessarily get as much use out of it as compared to a group 1 seat

2155User · 16/07/2020 14:20

@teaandlotusbiscoff

She asked for a 9 months + seat that is both isofix and seatbelt, nothing about group 1 or longevity etc in which case the cybex cloud fits the bill

EeGBee · 16/07/2020 14:21

Thank you all for your help. Yes I definitely want him rear facing for as long as possible, he is only dinky so we should be able to.
I will look at the Joie stages, looking at it quickly it seems to be the best option so far. I dont think the Cybex is suitable id like one that's going to last a few years like my Joie 360

No point getting the cloud and paying that for something which will only last 6 months when there's lots of extended rear facing seats which will last 5yo onwards for a similar price.

It's an infant carrier! I was talking about 9kg+ seats like the OP asked :)

Ah - I think you've misunderstood - car seats come in several weight classes, the Cybex is an infant carrier (0-13kg) and the OP asking for 9kg+ seats is looking for a seat in Group 1 (9-18kg), not just any seat that can be used at that weight, even though an infant carrier can still be used at 9kg, so I can see why you suggested it.

When I said all the seats which do both are cheaper/low quality or forward facing, I meant all the Group 1 seats. It's quite usual for infant carrier seats to fit with a seatbelt or isofix, but this isn't as common in the next stage up.

2155User · 16/07/2020 17:46

@BertieBotts

Ahh sorry, I thought she was just asking for ANY seats that suit a baby from 9kg as she didn't mention any groups

BertieBotts · 16/07/2020 18:53

Yes I can see why you would think that - it's just shorthand used in the car seat industry :)
