Does anyone know if this car seat can be used without an isofix base?

Sorry if you already got your answer, but no. It can only be used with the ISOFIX base.

That's correct it can't, but Nuna have brought out a couple of newer ones - the Nuna Next is very similar to the Pipa Lite and has the option of belt install :)

I would also look at Venicci Ultralite which can be seatbelt installed and is also lightweight (it's a rebranded Avionaut Ultralite, which is popular in Europe.)
