Maxi Cosi 2Way Fix (discontinued) base - with what Car-Seat ??????

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. The Maxi Cosi website is no use; they only show compatibility charts for new models.

So; we have the Maxi Cosi '2Way fix' Isofix iSize base... we have a 'Pebble Plus' for the new born ... but will need a seat for 9 months and above. Now, with the slightly older '2Way Fix' base; the seat to get was originally the '2Way Pearl Plus' - but this seems to be discontinued and cannot be bought any more.

And so, which of the new breed of seats (9 month old and above) fit the 2WayFix base??? Thank you for any help!!!!!

Hi OP :)

You will want to check this with an actual Maxi Cosi rep (you can message them on FB) but I believe the Pearl Smart, Pearl One or Pearl Pro will fit onto your base.

There does seem to be a new chart on the website which lists the 2wayfix as being identical to the FamilyFix One.

Worth noting - if you plan to reuse the baby seat for DC2, you might prefer to get a standalone toddler seat. Also, if your DC is large for their age, you might find the maxi cosi seats don't last them very long. In this case you'll later need to purchase a seat which is bigger, but still harnessed and/or rear facing. If this is likely, it will save you money to buy it now, rather than buy a Group 1 seat and then later a separate seat comprising Groups 1 and 2.

I have this table from Maxi Cosi which was published before the newest range came out

Maxi Cosi 2Way Fix (discontinued) base - with what Car-Seat ??????

I don’t know if you can view that properly but it shows that Bertie is right, the Pearl Pro, Pearl Smart or Pearl One are the seats to fit your base.

BertieBotts · 18/04/2020 22:48

They have updated the one on their website now:

www.maxi-cosi.com/international/base-compatibility

2wayFix is listed as "FamilyFix One i-Size/2wayFix"

Oh wow; thanks again!!! Thanks to everyone; all taken on board!

Thanks for that @BertieBotts, I missed that you’d said there was a new table, sorry.

Wow, Maxi Cosi told me back in Feb that the Pearl Pro 2 would not fit the 3way fix, we did so many customer refunds based on that Confused

BertieBotts · 19/04/2020 08:01

Honestly I'm not surprised they don't know themselves, it all seems unnecessarily complicated!

ASNW5 · 19/04/2020 08:25

I was given an old two way fix isofix base and it definitely didn’t fit the maxi cosi pebble pro car seat that we’d just bought, annoyingly. So we bought a three way fix base.

@LDN1 I hope you don't mind me asking, did you find a compatible seat in the end? I have exactly the same problem! Looks like Pearl Pro or Pearl Smart might be suitable, according to the chart others shared?

We ended up with the family fix base:
Maxi-Cosi FamilyFix ISOFIX Base, Suitable for CabrioFix and Pearl Car Seats, from Birth-4 Years, Up to 18 kg www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002YK51YE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_85xfFbKWM4S1P?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It was £130 but back up a bit now. Still a good price.

And we ended up with the CabrioFix seat.

We tried other combinations but they jutted out too much in our car where the front seat was almost unusable. And this is in Land Rovers!

We will use these and get the larger chair when she grows up (born a week ago!)

Thanks

Ok, thanks for getting back to me. Maxi-Cosi have replied to my facebook message, and say that the Pearl Pro and Pearl Smart are compatible - for anyone else who has this problem. I'm going to risk it, and hope that it fits!
Congratulations on the newborn!

Ellijae5 · 09/12/2020 20:45

@claref80 Did you end up risking it and getting the pearl pro 2 car seat with the 2wayfix? I’ve been searching everywhere to see if they are compatible but no one has a definite answer Confused

Claref80 · 09/12/2020 21:01

Yes, I did! I bought the Pearl Smart i-Size, and it fits fine.
I emailed Maxi Cosi, and this is the response I got....
Thank you for your message regarding the 2wayFix.

We can confirm Pearl Smart and Pearl Pro are compatible with this base.
The Pearl Pro and Pearl Smart are both 67-105 cm use (approx 6 months to 4 years). Rear facing from 67 cm up to 105 cm or forward facing after 15 months.

The price reduction is able to be put in place on the Pearl Smart by having a manual release harness and more standard cover set, where as the more expensive of the Two - the Pearl Pro with its spring loaded harness system, and more premium cover set, for some examples.

Pearl Pro 2 is NOT compatible with the 2wayfix base. I have checked this since I posted before and I'm 100% sure.

You may struggle to find the older versions of the Pearl on sale - I can have a look if you're stuck :)
