Baby car seat HELP

We have the Cybex Aton M i-size it has a new born insert that you take out once baby is over 60cm... the only problem is when I take it out his head slumps forward (see pic)

Is leaving it in over 60 cm dangerous?

Is your seat properly reclined on the seat in the car? Looks like it might be too upright to me! Having said that if you feel it's safer leave it in. I'm not sure extra padding can be dangerous?

I had the cybex aton 5 and when I took the insert out DS's head rolled forward like that! I didnt like it so kept the insert in and then changed him to a Joie I-spin 360 when he was 8 months. Not sure if there's a safety issue with keeping it in or not, sorry!

BertieBotts · 29/01/2020 09:12

No it's not dangerous - it's just a guideline. If your baby is fitting better with the insert, leave it in for now.

BertieBotts · 29/01/2020 09:14

60cm is generally about 3 months, so if he is long I'd try taking it out again at 3-4 months. When he has better head control he won't need it. Or you can keep it until it starts to make him look cramped, up to you.

Hi thanks everyone for reply's only just checked this! He is 4 months on the 14th and has been over 60cm since 2.5 months (he is a big boy)

@whoami24601 the seat is on an isofix base with indicators that are all green!

I think I best email Cybex he is getting a bit squashed now but if I take it out his head flops 😩

@BertieBotts as I said above he is almost 4 months this is the second time I have tried to remove it! His head is fine when he is awake but if he falls asleep it obviously flops down

It might be properly on the base but a lot of seats have recline settings. I'm not familiar with this seat so not sure if it does.

Can you take the insert out but then use the seat without the isofix base for a while? That way you might be able to steal a bit more recline to stop the head flop.
