Car seat fitting an old 2002 Clio II ??

Hello,

(Not so) quick explanation! Expecting 1st baby due early May and we don't own a car as we simply don't need one where we live.

However, we are moving to France this summer and will be moving to a slightly more rural area making owning a car a necessity. As funds are fairly tight these days with everything going on, my father has found us a car which would serve us well for a least a year or so until we can afford something a bit newer.

So, shortly after the move, we'll be the proud owners of a Clio II, 5 doors, from 2002!

Issue is, not a single retailer / car seat company is able to tell us what car seat would fit. They all say the only way to know for sure would be to do a fitting which we cannot do as we dont' have the car here!

Reason why we'd like to buy car seat in the UK rather than wait until we're in France is that it'd be useful to have in the few months between the baby's birth and our move. For instance, we're planning on taking a cab home after the birth so car seat is needed then.

Basically, I'm about to give up after spending hours online looking for advice. How can it be so hard to find a suitable car seat for an older car!!?
I'd be so grateful if anyone here had any ideas/recommendations.

Thank you!

Most infant car seats should fit using the car's seat belts. You might come into more problems with the fit of the next stage but infant car seats are pretty universal fitting.

If you're on a budget, I'd look at the Joie Juva - it scores well on safety, fits with the car seat belt and costs about £40-£45.

We used Britax-Roemer seats in Renaults of that vintage.
