So annoyed at Halfords

I ordered a Britax EVOLVA sict from Halfords at the weekend on offer for £80 and I've gone all the way to the store to pick it up only to find it that's it's now not due in until probably the 30th of January, what do I do now? I gave my old car seat away yesterday thinking I wouldn't need it so I'm stuck. The Britax was on offer from £200 pound so I can't find anything similar anywhere else to get one sooner Angry. Any recommendations on what I can buy as an alternative? Baby is 16 months and screams blue murder if you try and rear face her so much that it makes it impossible to drive otherwise I would be buying something like a Joie tilt.

Could halfords not lend you a car seat? I know mamas and papas, mothercare etc will do that

GemmeFatale · 22/01/2019 15:17

Oh that’s bloody irritating.

I’d call their customer services and ask them what they intend to do to help you

potatoscone · 22/01/2019 15:18

I'm not sure anyone here can help? You either buy one, borrow one or do t take baby in the car. Can't see any other options.

potatoscone · 22/01/2019 15:18

*dont

Stringofpearls · 22/01/2019 15:19

We bought a joie stages from Halfords recently which is proving really good. Interestingly we had a similar thing to you, we ordered online for in store pick up and it said it was in stock. It turned out bot to be but fortunately the store manager phoned us to let us know that there was an error, but that he would email when it was there, which he did. I'd have been really annoyed if I'd got to the store before in round out!

LIZS · 22/01/2019 15:19

Can they not send it direct to you?

Stringofpearls · 22/01/2019 15:20

*before I found out

drivemissdaisy · 22/01/2019 15:29

Potato, I was just looking for recommendations really on what I could possibly buy as an alternative, no need to be rude. They were most unhelpful in the shop and basically said there's nothing we can do, they didn't even have any others in the store to look at as it's not a car seat fitting store apparently, only some stores stock car seats. They said the 30th of January is only an estimate as it's coming from their supplier so it may be even longer Angry

They said that they would have let me know when I ordered it, well they clearly didn't otherwise I wouldn't be standing in the shop would I!

I've seen a Cybex Juno in Argos for £99, has anyone had any experience of these?

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/01/2019 15:34

Dont any other branches have them in? Can you get one anywhere else. Loads of places stock them. Or choose something else?

QforCucumber · 22/01/2019 15:40

The evolva is currently £80 in argos, could you get from there and cancel your Halfords order?

Doyoumind · 22/01/2019 15:41

Speak to Halfords customer services if you aren't getting anywhere with the store. I'm sure they wouldn't just tell you there was nothing they could do if you have proof there was mention of 30th.

drivemissdaisy · 22/01/2019 15:53

No other branches of Halfords have them as they are a web exclusive apparently. They are £150+ in other places and it was on sale for 80 in Halfords in a particular colour which is why I can't buy it from anywhere else otherwise I would have been tempted to tell them to just forget it. I will try ringing customer services, if they would even give me a loan seat it would be something.

drivemissdaisy · 22/01/2019 15:57

I'm starting to wonder if it will ever appear as that was the only colour in the sale, In two weeks they will probably come back and say it's out of stock.

I wasn't meaning to be rude. I missed the bit about looking for an alternative and thought you were asking what to do meantime. Apologies.

drivemissdaisy · 23/01/2019 10:32

Well I went down to Mothercare last night and they agreed to price match it and it should be here by Friday. Halfords have well and truly lost my custom.
